On May 24, 2006, Corporal Jason Makowski's life came to an extreamly tragic end as he resopnded to a call for service.

Corporal Makowski was shot and killed after responding to a call involving a man with a gun near the intersection of Joy and Beech Daly Roads in Dearborn Heights, Michigan.

When the wife of 61-year-old Jeffery Wolf returned home Wednesday night, her husband told her that someone was going to die, or someone was going to get shot. When responding officers arrived at the scene, the suspect ambushed them as he opened fire on them as he retreated to his home, and continued firing at officers from inside the home.

Corporal Jason Makowski sought cover behind a neighbors home and was instructing other officers who were arriving on the scene of the suspects location and was struck once in the face. After Corporal Makowski was shot, the shooter continued firing towards Corporal Makowski's position, preventing other officers from imediately removing him from the location. However, after some time, several officers were able to reach Corporal Makowski and remove him from the area as they continued to come under fire from the gunman.

With the help of his fellow Officers, Corporal Makowski was transported to Garden City Hospital and then flown to the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, where he succumbed to his wound at 4:30 AM the following morning.

Jason is survived by his Mother, Sister and Son. As well as the entire Dearborn Heights Police Force. He will be forever missed by all those who knew, loved and cared for him. The actions Jason took on this horible day were nothing shy of heoric, as were the actions of all those who responded alongside Jason.
